Physical Education Curriculum Statement

At Amblecote Primary School, we recognise the importance of PE and sport and the role it has to play in promoting wellbeing and healthy lifestyles. Our PE curriculum aims to provide all children with high quality PE and sport provision so that pupils at all levels are helped to achieve their potential. We strive to inspire our pupils through fun, engaging and challenging PE lessons and enrichment experiences that are accessible to all.

Through our teaching of PE, we aim to equip the children with the fundamental skills and knowledge that can be used for a variety of sports and physical activities at school and in the wider community.

Our aim is to provide the children with the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding and apply these in competitive situations inside and outside of school.

Our PE Curriculum, along with PSHE and Science, teaches children about the importance of healthy living and learning about the need for good nutrition. At Amblecote we endeavour to encourage our pupils to lead happy and healthy lifestyles now and in the future.

  • Reflect on their performance and set personal goals.

PE is assessed by checking how well children have meet the learning outcomes of each sequence of learning. Assessment is mostly practical, ongoing, and based on observing how children develop physical skills, teamwork, decision‑making, and understanding of health.

Assessment includes:

  • Observation and feedback during lessons.
